Anybody know I can get a 68 dash pad refurbished for hopefully not to much money? Just dashes wants like $300 just to redo one. I know I can get a repop for $200.00 but I am not sure on the fit and quality. Thanks, Erik

I have seen the repop's and I wasn't impressed with the look of the grain. It looked cheap.

There are some interior pieces I need to replace and will only be buying used GM parts. It's a struggle to find goods used parts but I think in the end it will pay off.

I have the cracked original, thats why I want to find a place that restores them. But I also don't see paying $300 for a restored piece. Unless thats common for these pieces.

I understand your dilema. If all you want is a dash pad that isn't cracked then shop for the lowest price on a repop, but from my experience the repops don't do the originals justice.

That was the point I was trying to make.

Did you try Ebay?

The reproduction 68 pads leave a lot to be desired, from grain difference, to seam lines, to ill fitting and brackets that tear out when mounting, $300 + isn't bad as long as the car warrents it. I have sold good originals for more in the past and have used parts from JUST DASHES, it is a good product. $450. is the current going price for uncracked, unbent and fairly soft originals. graemlins/waving.gif graemlins/clonk.gif

I agree. The grain is what really looks cheap on the repops's.

Erik, go with the Just Dashes...I guarentee you'll be very impressed with the results..FAR superior to the repro one.

I have been dying to ask this. Why is this topic in the Body Shop forum and not in the Interiors forum?

Sorry I put this thread in the wrong room. This is the first interior question that I have asked and honstly didn't see the interiors section. Anyways, My car isn't too original so I was wondering if I can justify $400 for a redo of my dash pad when the car isn't original, but I guess if I ever decided to get a new car or something more original I could just swap the two pads and always have a nice pad, right. Or if I decide to sell my car someday the buyer would notice the better dash pad. Thanks for your help. Erik

I have called Just Dashes before and no they do not repair 69 dash pads. The response was that with all the aftermarket dash pads on the market the need was not enough. I have listened to a lot of views on the available aftermarket dash pads from everyone here and wish they would reconsider. Good luck.

Erik, first you said Just Dashes wanted $300, then $400..did the price go up suddenly? Could this be contributed to the war with Iraq?

ScottClever, the 69's have a fake stitching that goes around it. I don't Just Dashes can duplicate that. Anyway, we're talking about 68's and 69 repro dash pads are not that bad. Yes, off the car they flex like a big dildo (girlfriend told me) but on the car they're fine.

I called Just Dashes last year and couldn't really remember the prices, then I called a coupke of days ago and they said $400.00. Thats alot of money but everybody is telling how bad the repops are so i don't know what to do.
