View Full Version : Replacing door felt

I'm replacing all the weatherstripping in my '68 base coupe with Soffseal products. I've done the rear passenger window. Now I'm on to the driver's door and I've removed the outer felt and inner window runner, but the top of the glass is preventing me from getting a screwdriver in the screws on the outer felt.

I've asked a friend who restores MOPARs and he says there should be a way to remove a pin or something to let the window retract even further down into the door. Anyone know how this is done?

Thanks, Robert.

Hi Robert. It's real easy...there are 2 nuts that hold the glass to the rebulator..remove the two nuts and carefully lower the glass beyond the regulator..onlt about a 1/2" is required to install the window felt.

There also are 2 bolts holding the window adjustment pads. I have taken those loose to move the glass back far enough to get in there.

Well I got the glass to retract low enough to get access, but in addition to removing the two bolts that hold the regulator, I also had to remove the bolt at the bottom of the front channel and push it in while lowering the glass.

The front channel rests on two rubber plugs on a ledge at the bottom of the door. You have to remove the bottom channel bolt and push the channel in so it will go past the ledge allowing the glass to go down that last inch or so. Just thought I'd pass that on.

Thanks for the replys,
Robert.
