I have spent the last three weeks in Raleigh/Durham training for a new job. I am so ready to get home, you can't belive it. I would much rather be laying under the Camaro (napping or working) rather than laying around in this hotel. Don't get me wrong, this is a beautiful part of the world, but it ain't home.
Only a few more days and I can get home. Thankfully, they just gave us our laptop computers so I can keep in touch with the real world.
Anyway, just venting. :rolleyes:

If you're ever in Portland, you can lie under my Camaro....while you're there, would you mind changing the oil? graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Hang in there! It's almost over...
You should be home soon and can get back to the things you know and love!
I know the "it ain't home" part all to well. I used to have to travel worldwide as part of my job. I actually didn't mind to much because we worked with good customers that wanted to see us and treated us well. I got things done, "correctly" (I deal in Process Chemistries - it's important it be done correctly or someone could get hurt badly or worse.), in reasonable time and got "home". But, as our company grew and I added more staff I got to stay local and be home every night - I got spoiled...
Our company ( We were a well run and profitable company even during the Electronics downturn which made us a great take-over. ) was bought out last July by an English firm - that quickly laid off all but one of my guys on the east coast and assigned all "their people" to the customers in other countries. I now spend all my time talking to pi$$ed off customers and when the problem is completely out of control - they put me on a plane to go fix it...
I Hate leaving home for business now as it's just another chance to get 'thrown-under-the-Bus' by our new parent company.
Got the call from Crolley, UK Wed. evening to go to France on Sat. for 2 weeks (why are these trips always over "Our" holidays, not "theirs"?) - spent all Thur.s tring to find out what was going on over there, not one straight answer yet - I walked into the company offices on Friday to tell them I wouldn't go, hoping they would fire me - they wouldn't (even tried cussing at them for the first time!). I finally agreed to go Sun. for Tue & Wed. meetings and then will fly home on Thur - before the Holiday. There is no earthly reason I am taking this trip now - other than to "wave the flag" - this will not save our past good business relationship with this customer.
Sorry - got off a a rant there...
I do feel you 'away from home' pain;
John
ps: I am polishing my resume for near future right now... Letters go out as soon as I get home.

Hey thanks for the offer HuggerZ, but I'll be home the day after tomorrow. I'm ready to get the beast out and have some fun. I just hope it stops raining before I get there.
