I'm installing one in the '67 and can't find the holes to mount it. I've pulled everything back to bare metal and all I've found is a rubber grommet/plug beside the gas pedal, no hole on the left side of the steering column. Am I blind, should the holes be there, is this an optional piece?

I just finished installing one myself and had to drill holes.

Thanks, I guess they were optional.

I’ve never seen one that didn’t have a guard although it wasn’t that uncommon for a screw to be left out here and there. The holes are not very big and sometime difficult to locate.
