Currently my ignition switch is just stuck through the dash but is not secured. This is really starting to bug me because every now and then when I go to start the car the switch falls through the dash and I have to go fishing for it. There was a bezel in my car that looks like it is for the ignition switch but it doesn't fit over the plate (metal cap with hole for the key) on the end of the switch. Is there a trick to this? does the cap come off the switch?

Take the key part out by inserting a paperclip into the tiny hole next to the keyhole. You might have to turn the key a bit to find the pin that the paperclip depresses. Then insert the key and turn to the left to where the lock assembly will come out. Then screw on the bezel and then put the lock assembly back in. Have fun.

Sounds like someone installed the lock cylinder without threading the collar onto the switch first. You will have to remove the key cylinder from the switch and that will allow you to thread the collar onto the switch from the front side of the dash therefore securing it to the dash.
To remove the switch follow these steps:
1) Insert key and turn left to accessory position
2) There is a small pinhole at the edge of the lock cylinder, insert a small poke tool and depress the small spring loaded brass pin that is inside of this hole.
3) With the pin gently depressed the key and cylinder should now turn further to the left and should pop out of the switch in about the 9:00 position.
Now with the cylinder removed you can thread the collar on and tighten it to the dash. Install the cylinder with key at the same 9:00 position and turn it to the right where it will lock into the switch again.
Poof...your and instant locksmith.
