I hacve recently removed the crappy dash pad on my 69. I discovered a square hole about 7inches by 3 inches. First, is this for AC controls? It is located just right of center in the dash. Secondly I thought I might try to get a gauge cluster in there and then buy the AC dash pad. I think it would look cool with my Pyle cd player, (the gauges would have a brushed aluminum finish like the cd player and the rest of the dash is black. Has anyone done this? Do you guys think this is a ridiculous idea or a trick cool one? I value the opinions of the esteemed camaros.net members and tech advisors ( if that seems a little bit like I'm kissing up, it is :D I just want you guys to like the idea, but if you don't, oh well!! Any advice on how to make this work or pics if someone has already done it would be great. graemlins/beers.gif

the opening you are refering to is for the center dash a/c vents. the a/c controls are in the instrument bezel.

i think your idea would look pretty cool, of course you'll be hot listening to your cool stereo with no a/c. but adding a/c is a whole other ball of wax.

yes you can kiss up to any of us at any time, BUT, money thrown by the handfuls will get you much farther, much faster. :D and since i posted back first i'd like mine in $20's and $50's, please. thanks!!! graemlins/hurray.gif

Jake, it's been done and I'm doing the same thing to my '69! I bought a repro A/C dashpad just so I can put 3 gauges in the A/C vent hole.

Take a look at JoeG's website, at the dash pictures. He's the member that I got the idea from because I thought it was the coolest thing to upgrade the interior.
Here's a thread about it..... http://www.camaros.net/forum/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=14;t=001398#000010
