This is a question for a 67 ragtop regarding the weather stripping that is attached to the sides of the windshield frame that goes between the windshield frame and the vent window portion of the doors.

When I took the old weather stripping off, it was mounted in a light alumunim frame. As I didn't know what the replacement weatherstripping would look like, I peeled out the old rubber and kept the frames. The new weather stripping was only the rubber.

I did a trial fit with just installing the rubber and it doesn't seal very well. I need to go check an see it will fit in the old frames, as I assume this would help.

Anyone else had experience with this weather stripping? Is installing the new rubber in the old frames the way to go?

When you took out the old weatherstrip, thats all that you should of been able to take out. Put the new rubber in that piece that gets screwed down up against the stainless that gets screwed down to the post, and if it doesnt fit that well, you can adjust the vent window to make it fit better.

Ragtopman,

Thanks for the input. Figured that was right but wanted to check. I was a little worried that I had thrown away the frames but found them the other day. I had taken them off since I had to replace the left side pillar post moldings as it had a gash from an old accident.

Wanted to pass on also that I took my rear seat panels to an upholstery shop per your suggestion and they came out great. $60 for all four panels which was money well spent.

memcgraw, What adhesive did the shop use? A friend got his done here and the material started to lift on the back side. Thanks

Don't know the specific adhesive but it was some type of spray on glue. It felt stronger than the 3M stuff I have used in the past.

I want to kinda glue my carpet in places, and the guys at the upholstery shop recommended 3m # 08090.
