View Full Version : 69 Power windows? kelly69ss Jul 8th, 02, 05:10 AM Were power windows an option on any 69s? kurt6325 Jul 8th, 02, 06:08 AM Yes. They were an option on 69's drew69 Jul 8th, 02, 06:47 AM Real rare bird there. I believe I read somewhere, something like only 3100 cars built with power windows in 69'. ------------------ Drew 69' X-11 350, Turbo 350, Factory Air, PS, PB, 12 Bolt (410 gear) & NOT AN SS kelly69ss Jul 8th, 02, 07:23 AM Where were the switches mounted and where can I buy them? My car doesn't have them, but think it would be super cool! stingr69 Jul 8th, 02, 07:34 AM 3058 cars. fairly rare. -Mark. gheatly Jul 8th, 02, 07:48 AM The switches were mounted in the same place that the window crank is. Try here for high quality electric window conversions. A couple of people here have used them and have had good things to say: www.electric-life.com (http://www.electric-life.com) kelly69ss Jul 8th, 02, 11:12 AM I want it to be the stock switches. I dont care about the motors and all that, I just want it to appear stock. toycarlvr@aol.com Jul 8th, 02, 11:59 AM I've installed the A-1 Power Window kit in my 1969. They're very easy to install and and work fairly well. My problem is #1. Stock early switches require special wiring and relays. I tried to install them but couldn't get it to work... so I mounted the switches that came with the kit (1970 and later style). #2. Not very much torque there... and if the windows aren't adjusted perfectly they don't seem to close very well. Good Luck... it's sure nice to have power windows on a hot day (no A/C). drew69 Jul 8th, 02, 09:09 PM
quote:
Originally posted by stingr69: 3058 cars. fairly rare. -Mark.

I stand corrected, 3058 out of 243,095 units built as my colleague here points out. FAIRLY RARE Question then is how many of those 3058 thirty three year old cars are still out there? http://www.camaros.net/forum/wink.gif I saw one for sale a few months ago and the reason I remember it the seller used that option as the selling point. It was at a boneyard up by Atlanta and the guy was asking $2500.00 for the car so you can pretty much guess what that looked like. A looong time ago. The setup is destined for my SS convert, along with a bunch of other goodies. http://www.camaros.net/forum/smile.gif Nothing like a power top and windows, I won't even need to get out of the seat to enjoy the top down. http://www.camaros.net/forum/smile.gif http://www.camaros.net/forum/smile.gif Now, if I can figure out the (no)Time/(no)Energy/(no)Money equation, I will be set. A slight variance won't bother me a bit. I do see a huge advantage to using new motors and such now that it has been mentioned. So thats my new plan, new units with a similar looking switches. |
