Good afternoon. I have a 69 camaro that I am rebuilding during my time at the air force academy. Currently I am redoing the interior. I plan on putting in a new console from Ricks or Year One. The car has the original four speed, but in the future I plan on installing a tremec/richmond or similar 5 speed. Will I still be able to use the console with the 5 speed or will the shifter hit when i go into 5th or reverse with the tremec/richmond? Thanks alot

Tremec, yes (but...) Richmond, no.

Do yourself a favor and run a search on the subject. You'll find page after page of great info as this has been discussed plenty of times before.

By the way, welcome to Team Camaro.

I'm in the process of finishing up this install in my 68 big block with richmond 5 gear...

David Pozzi's website shed a lot of light on this subject Richmond Five Gear (http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/David_Pozzi/first_gen_camaros.htm#Transmission)
you'll need to alter the modifications needed for the shifter if you're going with a big block. email me (or David)if you like for further info...

the new tremec tko 5-speed is said to to have eight shifter locations and 2in.offset that i think you will have to use .i to want to change from a th 350 to 5 speed. this trans is said to be much stronger than richmonds ''600hp''.check out www.ttcautomotive.com,kinda (http://www.ttcautomotive.com,kinda) costly though at about 3 grand for the whole kit.
