Hi all!
I've been looking for steering column rebuild kits but can't seem to find any info anywhere. Does anyone sell such a thing for 1st Gen. columns or will I need to bug the Chevy dealership for some parts/numbers? I may end up just disassembling it, cleaning the bearings and putting it back together. But I'd like to find new brass and plastic gears that work with the ignition switch also.
Thanks for any info....

try www.ididitinc.com (http://www.ididitinc.com)
they make the newer columns for the cars including tilts and all, they may have some of the parts you need.

Joe,
www.firstgen.com (http://www.firstgen.com)
I noticed that Rick's has some complete columns available...I'm looking for the same thing for my 67 Bird. Download the catalogue. It's in .PDF format.

Hey folks,
Ididit doesn't do pieces/parts, but Ricks has the plastic gear that the ignition switch turns. $7.
That's the only internal part of the steering column that they offer besides the wiring and turn signal assembly. No bearings unfortunately.
Ans yes, I've ordered the current catalog. http://www.camaros.net/forum/smile.gif
I guess I should rely more on the telephone and less on the web sites for my info. My fault.

I didn't really get what you were after..just pieces?? I have a column (column shifter) with stripped out threads on the shaft...I will strip it and sell the pieces to ya cheap if ya want? or as is..doesn't matter to me, I am going with a console shift and a plain column soon so I don't need this one.

Thanks Cosmic,
Well... there are a couple pieces that I need, but one in particular is the small horn relay switch that slides down into the column vertically. It's below all of the horn/turn signal assemblies. When it's installed, all you can see are 2 very narrow contacts that are about 3/8" long. They angle off towards one side. One of my contacts is broken off so I won't get the "key-still-in-the-ignition buzzer" when I open my doors.
Ya got that switch? Email me with the particulars if you want to sell it.
Thanks again!
