I just cleaned the handfulls of sealer of the back sides of my kick panels, is there any alternative to seal the panels? New sealer may become quite messy during the installation. Is the sealer intended to seal the interior from water or air leakage?

use the 3M Strip Caulk, available from any aumotive paint store. Make a rope out of it, and stick it in place, just like the factory did. It will stay pliable.

I just had to reseal mine a few weeks ago. I had water leakage and that turned out to be the problem. I used the product mentioned above. The part number is 08578. It wasn't all that bad to work with to tell you the truth.

A couple of other things that work very well are sold at local Heating and A/C supply houses. You can use either Braemac Thumbgum or Virginia Chemicals Permagum Both of these are water tite and react well to heat and cold expansion. The really good thing about the VA Chem Permagum is that you can get it pre-rolled in a 3/8" strip .

One more thing, Dan...Apply the strip calk to the BODY rather than the kick panel. If you put it too close to the oval wall of the kick panel it will leak. Apply it to the edge of the opening ON the body.
