I'm in the process of redoing the carpet and installing new console and guages in my 69'. After I installed the guages, the first time I drove the car at night, I noticed the lights were not very bright at all, almost to the point of not being able to read the gauges. On the wiring harness, all 4 bulbs are routed to the same wire, and I hooked that wire into my dashlights, which are very bright and work fine. I've checked all the grounds, and everything seems to be in order, the guages themselves work fine. I'm just wondering, has anyone esle ran into this, or is there a "brighter" bulb that you can replace the stock ones with? KZ

I understand what you're saying about the brightness of the gauge lights. Every '69 I've owned with the console gauges they've never been real bright. I replaced mine about two weeks ago and looked at all the bulbs they had and bought the largest ones that would fit in the bulb slot. I even replaced the lenses to see if that would help. I don't remember the number for the bulb but they did help. I guess the lights were like that from the factory, because I've read that one of the reasons they put the low fuel indicator light in the dash was because the fuel gauge was so hard to see at night.
