I need advice on the best way to remove the dash from a 1970 Z-28. I'm going to use it to replace the one in my 71. I'd also like to know if it would be easier (ha) to replace the whole dash or just the instrument panel and gauges?

Thanks.

Sorry took so long. Easy. First, remove your panel. the panel on the left will have your wipers and light switch. If you want to keep your panel, remove the tabs on back. On the right, you will have your cigarette lighter and probably a cable. Remove those. On removing your panel, you will have your gauge assembly. If you have a clock, remove the one wire to the back of the clock. If you have gauges, you will have to remove the wires behind the gauges. Then there is a large (1 inch, 1/2 inch) wire assembly connected to the back. It is a pinch assembly, so simply pinch it and wiggle it carefully, side to side. I say carefully, because if you break any of the connections, you may loose your turn signals, warning lights etc. Then remove the speedometer cable from the back. Don't simply pull, reach towards the assembly where you will feel the tab. Pull towards the engine and it should easily come out. Finally, there are only four plastic tabs holding the gauge assembly to the dash. Take that off and voila, you're done. I've done this several times, and once you get the hang of where everything is, you will unfortunately, become and expert like me. Good luck and let me know how it goes.

SORRY, I FORGOT THIS LAST PART. IT IS MUCH EASIER TO REMOVE THE GAUGES THAN THE DASH. IF YOU DON'T NEED TO REMOVE THE DASH, THEN DON'T.
