hey i need to replace my standard black bucket seats in my 69 SS 350, and i know you can get exact replicas of them from people like NPD, but my dad and i wanted i little more padding in the lower back/butt. So should i just have a good local guy that my dad has used before do it and have him make the covers original as best he can?? Also, are the ones from places like NPD quality?? I am guessin i cannot get the places like NPD to put more padding in them?? thanks guys

Whether you do em, or have em done, it'll look more original if you get new repro covers. They sell the foam buns, too, maybe yours are just a lil "old"?

I would think it would be very difficult for a shop to accurately duplicate the stamped-in pleats.

NPD and any of the other aftermarket suppliers don't make them anyway. They just sell them.
What you're asking isn't impossible, but you're not going to be able to use the available seat covers. If you start throwing extra padding on top of the seat buns, you're liable to rip seams out of the upholstery. Especially enough extra padding to create a lumbar support in the seat back.
If you want lumbar support and some extra side padding next to your thighs, you're better off finding a newer seat from a late model Camaro and having them re-upholstered with reproduction 67-69 Camaro upholstery material. Now you're looking at major bucks!
