Hi:
I just purchased an original column to dash plastic piece for my 69 Camaro that is painted green and my car has black interior. What chemical product could I use to strip the green paint down to the bare black plastic. Thanks for your response.

Hi Pete,Welcome to T/C! I don't think you really need to strip this, plus using strippers is sometimes harmfull to plastic..Using strippers is also harmful to you if the wife or girlfriend finds out graemlins/angry.gif I would just use a scuff pad with some soap and water and give the part a good scrubbing, dry it and spray it with some trim black.
By the way,If your out Sunday there's a good show at Hillsdale H/S in San Mateo.I'm bring My car and there's always lots of Camaros!Stop by and say Hi graemlins/beers.gif Bob

I've had good luck with Castrol super clean. I soaked my 67 bezel overnight and it came out great. Mine had at least 3 layers of paint on it. I also did my kick panels, door pulls, and console pieces on my 71.

That Castrol Super Clean is some nice stuff. Cleans just about anything off of anything.

I had to remove paint from an original dash carrier. Believe it or not Easy Off oven cleaner works great without damage to plastic. Coat it and put in a plastic bag.
