I have a Hurst shifter in a console. There is a black rubber seal that slides over the shifter, I assume it goes under the plastic slide on the console and above the boot. Problem is, it slides down to far and there is a space between the slide and the rubber seal. What is missing or what am I doing wrong?

Do you have the correct ****er boot?

My Z is the same way. I think that's how they are.

It is not the original boot. Are you saying that the rubber seal sits on top of the boot?

It's been awhile since I've had it apart but I have the rubber accordain boot on the floor, then the round rubber disk with a slot in it, and you set the whole console over that with the rectangular plastic slider installed in the console.
