I pulled out the kick panel vent on my 69. There was the original dough-like sealer around the edges. A few auto places said there isn't anything like that anymore. I'm thinking of using something like window caulk. Are there better alternatives?

A cheap alternative is available at Home Depot. Frost King makes a grey putty that comes in a roll that will work great. About $5 total will do 5 cars. Look in the section that handles the foam tape.

I think Carl has the right idea cause if you go buy 3Ms 'strip caulk'(pretty much the same that what came out of it)you will get enough to do 20 cars and probably cost a bundle more.

I just sealed my air box back in place with the 3M strip caulk. It worked well. I used about half of the box. It cost about $9.

Thanks. I went to Home Depot and bought the stuff for about $4.00. Looks like the real thing.

I have used the plumbers putty I picked up at a local hardware store. It worked great up until I sold the car so I'm not sure at this point.
