You can fix those factory clocks. Take the back off and find the set of contact points in there and simply clean/file them like the old ignition points. A light spray of WD-40 on the mechcanisum
seems to help. I'm no clock rebuilder but this gets them going again.

Something else I learned, but I am sure many people at TC know is that do not let your battery run low. That is what burns out the clocks. I have heard to put it on a 1 amp fuse of it's own or diconnect the battery if not driven regularly.

Well about 6 months ago I pulled mine out and removed the back. I found worn contacts and tried the filing with little success. I then put a glob of solder on and then cleaned them up to where they looked about right and it's still ticking today.
Once I pulled the clock apart and saw how it worked, just arcs when the points close due to a 12 volt potential across the contacts which resets the spring for another duration, I heated up a little solder with my soldering gun, placed a glob on one of the contacts, then cleaned it up so the points will actually make contact and thats it.
