View Full Version : Is this a 68 Steering Wheel?
ohayden Apr 22nd, 01, 03:07 PM Is this a Camaro steering wheel?

Looks more like a Nova, huh. Would it even fit on my 68 SS Camaro? If so, then anything would be better than the GT steering wheel it currently has. Talk about hard to turn, a dinky little steering wheel in a car without power steering was not a good idea! I'm hoping it would at least fit, I really don't think it looks like a 68 steering wheel. Thanks for any help!

68-327 Apr 22nd, 01, 03:35 PM Looks like a Nova to me - a 68 camaro standard will be a thick triangle shape with the horn buttons along the triangle parts. A deluxe wheel has a triangle shape also but has a teardrop like cut out in each triangle.
If you want I can probably e-mail you the pics if you want to see>>>

Winch May 1st, 01, 03:52 AM Am I mising something here. When I go to that ebay link I see a picture of a pair of blue jeans?
ohayden May 1st, 01, 06:05 AM Hehehhe... and I just bought them too http://www.camaros.net/forum/smile.gif No.. just kidding, looks like the guy changed the underlying picture. I e-mailed him as told him that the steering wheel wasn't for a Camaro and that it is most likely for a Nova. He aggreed and said that he had suspicions that it wasn't for a Camaro, so he said that he would just re-list the item as a Nova steering wheel.
I was a little frustrated since the other steering wheel I was looking at went for 130... I'll keep looking.

ohayden May 1st, 01, 09:05 AM Thanks rs1968ss. Is that the deluxe steering wheel? It looks like it... Does the standard steering wheel have the shroud on it also? I've seen one with a chrome shroud and wasn't sure if it was for the 68. I'll find the pic and post it later.
I'm finding it hard to find the orginal pieces, my buddy who has had his 66 Mustang a lot less than I my Camaro is finding his pieces all the time. Where as I have little or no choice. Ahh... but that part of the fun I guess http://www.camaros.net/forum/smile.gif

I'll send what I have - Also if anyone can scan the NPD catalog page 78 lower right hand corner these are the deluxe wheels. I'll see if I have a pic on e-mail of one but if anyone could scan that page for you that should work ok.
ohayden May 3rd, 01, 07:29 AM Thanks 68-327. That'll be great. I think I know what I'm looking for now. Is this the standard or deluxe steering wheel:

68-327 May 3rd, 01, 10:23 AM Check this e-bay link below for a deluxe steering wheel. It's an actual car but it has a good shot of the wheel inside the interior - this is a 68 wheel though. I think all three years were different for wheels deluxe and even standard.

Winch May 3rd, 01, 10:24 AM That one looks like my 68. Mine has an RS horn button. I would guess that's a standard.
