The steering column in my 67 wobbles up and down when I turn the wheel. I've torqued the three 9/16 nuts on the bracket underneath the column as tight as they can go. However I am missing the 4 screws that go through the bracket and into the column. What size are those fasteners anyways? If someone can let me know I'd appreciate it.

I believe they are 1/4 - 20 bolts

Is the 1/4 the head size? What about the length?

Phil,
If you go to Home Depot or a hardware store, they'll have all the bins of bolts/screws/washers/nuts labeled as to their size.... just look for 1/4-20 bolts. 20 threads per inch, 1/4" dia. shaft. The head size may vary.

They're short...no more than 3/8" or 1/2". Also, seems like they are a funny copper color. But I don't think they're copper, or brass.
Anyone know why?

I bought the 1/4 bolts today and they're not thick enough. I'm going to go with 3/8 bolts. I can't believe that this is the only thing holding me up from putting my car on the road for the first time.
