Just scored a fold down rear seat for the 67 RS. Only paid $100 for it, I think that's good. Anyway, Where do I drill holes to mount the brackets? I know I need to order related parts, such as partition, latch catch, and seat bracket. But have no idea were to drill in floorpan for this.

ya man, i heard like only a few hundred with that option. Good luck and "....may the force be with you" when you start to drill.

I "retrofitted" a '68 fold down into my car. The basic seat idea is the same for 67-69. The way I did it was to install a rear seat shelf (the foam in the shelf affects fit), install the upper seat panel (no cusion) into position so that an even gap exists between the seatback trim and the shelf. The seatback trim extends back about 1/2" over the seat shelf. Don't worry about getting it perfect. I've seen originals be 1/4"+ off in height from side to side. Center the panel side to side between the side panels. Now you can estimate where the brackets go. You will likely have to tack weld the brackets into place and install the upper and lower seat cusions to check for fit. It's tedious work and it helps if you have a friend to help. Once you see how the floorboard and the brackets are formed it will make sense. The brackets were originally spot welded into place. A mig welder is the easiest way to go.
Good luck.

stevo camaro I hope you can get some info on this rear seat. I have a 68 and my parts car was a 67 it had the delux interior and a fold down rear seat. I havent got it mounted yet and all my trial fits have wound up with an interference problem with the back hitting the bottom and lifting the back out of the brackets. I also need to know if the 67 had side arm rest in the back and how they were mounted. I checked my assembly manual (for the 68) and it shows nothing on fold down rear seats, just briefly mentioned does the 67 assembly manual show any thing??? OomBaa.

When trial fitting just use the upper steel backing and leave the upper cushion off. It will make it much easier to handle. 67 fold down seats are not the same as 68-9. It will likely work but the latching mechanisms are different. There's nothing in the 68 assembly manual about the fold down seat option.

Thanks carlc, I didn't know 67 was different than 8's & 9's. I do know mine came out of 67 so maybe I won't have a bunch of problems. oombaa, 67 assembly manual says nothing about it either.

Steve,
The 67 seat release is in the center while the 68-9 is on the RH side. I don't know if the cushions are different (67 deluxe will not fit 68 delux non-fold down frames). I think they may have to be since the 68 upper cushion has clearance for the latch. The 68 may not have the necessary latch holes in the rear seat divider as they may have been deleted for 68. It's an interesting option but totally useless and impractical.
