hey, i just bought 67 camaro ss and doing my first "resto" My question is about the center section of the dash where the radio and heating/ac controls are located. From memory i belive this area is metal. Can this area be shaved clean by removing the stereo and controls and very slowly welding sheetmetal fillers in them. Almost like shaving door hadles. IF this dash shaving is posible it can be done anywhere on the dash where it is metal right? The reason i ask this is because i want to mount late model f-body ac/heating controls along with a hi-fi head unit.

Yes....the center section of the dash is metal...there is a "cover" panel that fits over it....sometimes black wrinkle finish or sometimes wood grain...but under it the dash is metal
