View Full Version : Have you ever heard of this one???
69CamaroRacer Oct 12th, 01, 12:45 PM A guy came into Auto Zone today and told me he had a 366ci 6.0 big block chevy that came stock in his mid-size 1975 pick up. I think he is full of crap but he swears that is what it came with from the factory. I know a 6.0 is a 400ci but he said nope that wasen't it.... what do u guys think
bilydean Oct 12th, 01, 01:55 PM I think he is right. Chevy made a 366 and a 427 tall block big block. They are not the same block as a 396 or 454 or the regular 427
novaderrik Oct 12th, 01, 02:19 PM i thought the 366 and tall deck 427 were only put in really big trucks- like dump trucks and such.maybe one snuck thru the door of the factory with a 366 in it...doubt it.

chev64 Oct 12th, 01, 02:44 PM The 366 and 427 tall deck engines came in the medium duty trucks such as the C60, which were dump trucks and straight body trucks. If he had a big block in this truck from the factory, it might have been a 402 or possibly a 454. If I have been told correctly, there are about 61 cubic inches per liter, so 366 cubic inches would be 6 liters?

If you have no fear, you're not going as fast as you could.

Sounds about right - a 350 is 5.7 litres.
1 cubic inch is 0.016387 (etc) litres.
So 366 is 6 litres, give or take the rounding errors.
c4boom Oct 12th, 01, 04:38 PM what trp of power can you get out of this type of motor
travis Oct 12th, 01, 08:21 PM A 400 is a 6.6L...6.0L is a 366. Chevy didn't put the 366 in anything smaller than a 1 1/2 ton truck. However, it can be swapped into a truck...its just a tall deck big block.

xodus921 Oct 14th, 01, 04:53 AM I read an article in super chevy a few months back. It was saying the 366 big block had a differnet design on the piston rods and alot of people were going to the junk yard to salvage them because they were alot stronger.

Okie Junkyard Dog Oct 14th, 01, 10:32 AM A 366 CI is a truck engine, a destroked 396, just a different crank, big block, lo compression, no good for racing,
oger Oct 15th, 01, 01:38 PM Actually the crank and rods are very good. It is a 3.75 stroke with a 3 7/8? bore the block is .400 taller and not good for anything.
