This is completely unrelated to Camaros, but I could not find any info about our problem anywhere else on the internet, so I figured I'd give you guys and gals a shot.
My mom has a 1994 Pontiac Bonneville SSE (non-supercharged 3800 Series I V6). We've been having a problem for a little while now concerning something in the EGR valve system. The Service Engine Soon light came on a while back, and the engine would run like crap. The code was for an improper EGR valve pintle position. We replaced the valve (new GM part - $130!!!) and it cured the problem. About a month later, the light came on again. We pulled the codes, and it was the same code. We replaced the valve again (thankfully under warranty), but it apparently did not fix the problem...the light still comes on frequently. The engine does not run bad at all when the light comes on now. We have pulled codes several times, and each time the only code in the computer is improper EGR valve pintle position. What could be the problem here??? It can't be the EGR valve. We are confident that the EGR valve was at fault the first time, but now the engine runs fine. Nothing seems to be wrong with the car as far as engine performance, but we keep getting the same code.
