I was just wondering about the Weiland supercharger for the 86 Iroc. i saw that it has abot a 25%-40% increase in power. now i plan on having about 400 hp with this new cam and K&N filter (just rough numbers to work with)---that could be 550 hp then. Thats unreal. anyone have one of these superchargers?

my cousin has a --- 86 IROC with a 350 crate motor,3.73s, flowmaster, T-tops, shift kit, Holly 650 carb., automatic, 94 Trans Am seats--- i just do the research for him.

Not sure which supercharger your referring to. Is it a roots type(144,177,6-71,8-71), or is it centrifugal? I doubt you are running low enough compression to run a roots type blower on pump gas. It may be possible with a centrifugal though.

weiand superchargers are roots style blowers. u could get away with 9:1 comp but dont plan on running much boost....they like 8.5:1 and less.

I had a friend who ran a vortec supercharger on his 87 camaro. It took a while to install but it was worth it. Lets say the power it added even with 4 pounds of boost was alot. He never dynoed the car but it had to be atleast 100 hp increase.

Two things. Your friend installed a centrifugal supercharger, which is much more efficient then the roots type blower in question. Secondly, there's no way in hell 4lbs of boost netted 100hp. Maybe 50-60hp on a cold day.

I've got the Powerdyne 4.5 which is a centrifugal supercharger and they say it adds 80-100 hp. I always assumed 80 to be conservative. I know a guy from work who put on one of the Weiand suprchargers and he said it felt like an easy 100 hp increase.

Well 60 hp is still a big increase especially if it FEELS like a 100 hp increase even if my seat of the pants dyno results arent accurate. http://www.camaros.net/forum/rolleyes.gif
