Mitsu? There's got to be something faster... Come on GM! Let's have a new Nova... inexpensive and quick! :D

Seeing they only listed 0-60 times I would change the title to the "quickest" street cars on the market today. Quick and fast are two different things. Those little Subarus and Mitsubishis are pretty quick and for the money, they seem like the best buys on the list (oh what a shame). One of the american car makers has to wake up and compete. Turbo charged 4 bangers in a light package can be fun and that's where the market seems to be right now.
I will stick with my old school V8's though.

Just think what you could do with 20-30K in your Camaro... just need to put $500 or so a month away for 72 months...lol.

Any room in that Cobalt for an LS2. I have visions of those Vegas that were rippin` it up when I was a kid at National Speedway.-----Scott

do notice though how the American brands(Chevy, Ford, Saleen, Dodge) are quicker than the rest. Also, i have been reading up alot and see on TV how car manufacturers are noticing how the market is leaning more to the old school muscle side of things. They said the new mustang is just startin it all up...hope thats true. I have also heard how some of the brands like honda, toyota etc are kinda scared that the market will do this...considering they really dont have much muscle/V8 experience. They really better hope it doesnt happen, but I DO!!!

I just sold my turbo 4-banger and switched to domestics. With a cost of 14k and 10k in mods I've handed out many *** whoopings but to keep it in spec and dialed in is ridiculous.not to mention it only sold for 10k. With the camaro I don't think I'll ever loose that amount of money and don't have to deal with NYS inspections.

Royce,
I hear you! Those little cars can be quick. Turbos can make even a tiny engine lots of fun.
My daily driver is a Nissan 300ZX twin turbo. It is only a 3 litre V6 but with just minor modifications (computer reprogramming mostly) some are putting 350 horses down at the rear wheels! Boost is glorious.
That said, driving quick modern cars is fun... but just doesn't put the grin on my face that driving the old Camaro does... definitely doesn't get you as many thumbs ups either.
My question as well is... when will the US makers step up and take those low-cost categories!

camp07,
You are right the American cars on the list were the fastest ooops ummmm quickest but, they also cost twice what the Subaru or Mitsubishi costs, that's where the problem is. If you measure it quickness per dollar the two "cheap" imports are eating their lunch. I use cheap lightly cause 30K is not cheap if you ask me. For 30K I could build a car that would be much "quicker" than any of those.
John,
I like the styling of the 300 and 350 Z's and thay can be down right fast. I also agree the old school muscle just feels, sounds, and smells different. Can't put it into words.
