But please do tell, how did it fit? What is the finish and color like? Any re-enforced areas where they usualy crack?

I just got it about 6 hours ago, picked it up by hand (1 hour drive) any way it comes with a metal rod that is bolted from the speedo area to the tach area to keep it from flexing. The plastic looks more flat than a semi gloss. The chrome lettering is to die for and the radio are looks really beefy. very very nice part. I was looking at my old one that I hacked up for the auto meter gauge install and is seemed like the new one was made of thicker plastic.

I looked at one when I was at Firewheel Classics the other day. I agree, it looks like a very nice piece. However, on the one I looked at, the chrome had a few jagged edges here and there. If it fits as good as it looks, I wouldn't mind the chrome.

BTW, Floyd at Firewheel said that the metal bars were used on the original dashes. My original dash didn't have a bar and the holes where the bar is attached did not have any signs of being used.

I didn't have my original dash to lay beside the repro, but it looks pretty darn close. My dash is currently on the dinging room table, so I have been poking around on it recently.

Your dash is on the dining room table? Where's the turkey, up on blocks in the garage? http://www.camaros.net/forum/smile.gif

Anyone looking to save a few bucks can check out: www.coverlaymfg.com. (http://www.coverlaymfg.com.) They make molded plastic dash covers that fit over the original dash, look great. Got one for my 84 Camaro recently. Came to $100, including postage. They can be painted to match the interior also. Took about 10 days to get, installs with silocone sealant. Looks great.

We were lucky enough to get in 6 of the 69 dash carriers! We already sold out but we are going to try and order in more next week!! I have not had one complaint yet...they are a VERY nice piece!
