I have a #s matchn 69 Z. Shifter / trans shifts pretty well but when you put it in Reverse, shifter scrapes the side of the councel hard. I now have the shifter out of the car and see some ware but not sure how to procede in rebuilding it or getting it rebuilt. Ideas?

hurst will do it for about $75 they replace any worn shims or bolts. I'd look to something else causing the banging on the console... like a bent shifter bracket, or maybe the whole transmission out of alignment.
