angel, Everythings out of hand and it seems like the bad guys have the advantage :( Sorry to hear of the loss...A few small towns here in the Northwest have passed laws to stiffen penalties for gun crimes and they themselves are starting to carry more powerful rifles! I hope things can change for the better one day real soon, but it doesn't feel like they can. Keep the faith brother ;)

The 2 posts I edited were out of place as they overshawdowed the intent of this thread. Someone here has lost someone close and to bring up anything but sympathy and condolences for this loss is uncalled for. :(

Angel - my deepest condolences to you, the SFPD and the officers family.

Angel, As a Retired AF COP myself and know what its like to have to carry a gun and respond to different events, the job as a Police Officer is one taken with a grain of sand by those that are not ones. These are the folks that get spit on, rocks thrown and as here shot and killed, but yet they are the first that these same people call for help.

Thoughts and prayers go out the the Officer's family from ours here in Hawaii.

Angel - my deepest condolences to you, the SFPD and the officers family. DJD - Believe me. Of everyone here that reads this one thread, I doubt if there's hardly anyone that offers more sympathy and condolence for his loss more than I, and I'm gonna stand firm on that. As stated before, here in Chicago we have the highest Homicide rate in the nation.and It really urkes me like crazy to hear or read when someone is brutally gunned down like that. (especially a policeman) What happened to Angels comrade in Law enforcment unfortunately goes on here in Chicago almost constantly and its really sad. graemlins/sad.gif The things that were stated earlier were not meant to be taken out of text. I merely spoke the truth. I am thankful that there are people like angel that are willing to risk their lives everyday patrolling the streets to put an end to it all.

Angel - Again I offer my deepest sympathies and condolences for both you, and all those that were affected by your loss and believe me, I say this with more sincerity that I could ever express with mere words

thanks everyone. jeff, you are right that people take our job for granted. i know there are people out there that think cops just hand out tickets and so on but that is what can get us killed also. we just never know who we will contact. sometimes its a thanksless job that actually try and help people. this is a very sad and emotional day for me and my wife not only because its easter but also a friend has died. my wife and i could not sleep last night and have a alot of emotions running in and out of our heads. my friend was only in the department for about 6 years. god rest his soul.

angel

ps. gar, i did not get any mail.

I feel the pain. I am sorry for your loss and the loss of the many in SF. A broken heart is the worst pain. It is hard to fathom that you and I are sharing this kind of grief and we are thousands of miles apart. In my case, Woody had done what he set out to do and he did it with style. In your case, your partner was all to young to have his life ended. I just read about it this morning. Everytime I read a story like that, I feel the pain. I did not know him, yet I did. We (both of us) are now preparing for the services. I was fortunate enough to be asked to speek at Woody's service. It is difficult to recall 27 years worth of memories and properly recite them. Just keep in mind Angel, the greatest honor one can only hope for in life is that he (or she) will be dearly missed. When one has become a part of anothers life, one is missed. There are no magic words or creado's to relieve the pain. One just works through it and moves on....never forgeting. In 27 years, I have attended and taken part in just to many law enforcement funerals. I am tired of them, yet, they continue to come. As we lay Woody to rest this Wednesday, I will think of you, the recovering officer, and the slain officer as well as his family. As I watch Woody's family suffer, I will think of your partners family. The names and faces are different, the grief is the same. 21...21...21..E.O.W.

Angel,

Being on the job myself I feel your pain. My prayers are with you friends family, you and your co-workers. I know what you are going through. It made me re-think my career choice, but I hung on. It makes me so mad and confused. We are out to serve and protect, yet we become targets ourselves. Please look out for yourself, family, friends and co-workers, this is where I have found strength in tough times. God Bless....Chuck Buckner....Douglas County Sheriff Office, Colorado
