I would like to know the emission numbers of your car + engine-type (350 stock, 355 high/mid/low performance etc.), cause the Dutch government is going to change the law of motorvehicles in the Netherlands. The amount of taxes we are going to pay is also going to be related to emissions. I don't have any clue of what the emissions are going to be of a V8 powered car. Thanks

Here in the States, EMissions are more or less controlled by each State, the Federal Govt sets some standards but basically its up to each state, of course California is the hardest state, you could have a bean burrito and fart and fail emissions, YET A DIESLE TRUCK dont have to worry about it... strange..
I live in Maryland, its 1 trip every 2 years, and its $14.00 USD pass or fail.

I live in Miami Florida, USA and the Florida law states that any car older than 1972 does not need to pass emmissions.

Texas has a rolling 25 year rule - cars over 25 years old aren't subjected to the emmissions test. This is great because you can now fix up mid-70s Camaros and Firebirds and rip-off all of the emissions stuff. May not be legal from a federal perspective, but it will pass the test http://www.camaros.net/forum/wink.gif

Now there is also a 25yrs rule here in the Netherlands, but in 2004 this will change..... http://www.camaros.net/forum/frown.gif But in, let's say a chevy V8 with a carb and 20yrs old.... what numbers should I think of? 2%CO 5%CO ???(Hell, I don't even know howmany % CO I may have here in the Netherlands....)

I'd have to go look at some old tests, but I think 2.5 on CO and 1.5 on HC are somewhere close for early 70's stuff.
We had a 74 pickup which came with no catylitic converter, and it only had a smog pump on it.
Yhe pump had a air pump that went bad, and was not pumping any air but the truck still passed OK! the basic engine package would have been the same as a first gen except it had an EGR valve and vapour recovery.
I don't have any high perf engine data handy.

I'd say up to 4%CO, anything less than say 2% will cause a lean misfire.
500 to 600 PPM HC.
