I was wondering if anyone is using Energy Release Metal Conditioner in their engine. I am looking for information from real world users. I want to try and get a little better gas milage from my every day vehicles. Additional power is always welcome.

Kent,
I've been using it in all my engines and chassis for about 5 years now. I'm not an engine rebuilder so I don't have any emperical data to share. I do believe it reduces friction and heat. I also use their synthetic greases and love them, they are very tacky and adhere to most anything and seem impervious to water. I use the grease on my MX bike and can tell you it lasts much longer and stays intact better than any other grease I've used.

Maybe I'm biased because the company is in my hometown. Hope this helps.
Robert.

If any of that "miracle" stuff (pick one, many to choose from, all have infomercials) they want you to pour in your engine actually did reduce friction and heat and improve fuel economy, don't you think the OEM's would use it in factory fill? They'd KILL to get another tenth of a mile per gallon to meet the Federal CAFE fuel economy laws. If any of this stuff passed real-world OEM tests, it would already be in your engine (and they test them all, in case they find one that works - and none do). If it makes you feel more comfortable, go ahead and use it - but, as the Fed language says on the price sticker in the window, "your mileage may vary".

I spent 37 years in the OEM industry, have seen literally hundreds of these "miracle potions and trinkets" tested, and none of them did squat. Why do you suppose ProLong, Z-Max, and all the rest of them are constantly under investigation and indictment by the Federal Trade Commission and have to keep modifying their advertising claims to comply with consent decrees? The ripoff artists marketing the "Miracle Vortex Tornado Air Intake Modifier" and the "Miracle Nuclear Magnetic Clamp-On Fuel Molecule Sraighteners" are under indictment too, but they haven't been to court yet - they'll keep ripping people off until the minute the gavel falls.

Not flaming or ranting, just stating the facts - as long as they can afford to advertise, they'll raise people's false hopes, lighten people's wallets, and get rich.

Ways to better milage....on a newby type of driver.

1. Synthetic lubricants all the way

2. fancy smancy cat-back systems

3. Performance enhancement chips.

I did these on my new Dakota truck, went from 17 mpg to 20 on the road. More giddy up too.

Agreed.. no such thing as cure in a can. Dont combine 'special additives' into your oil, since most of us are not chemists we could be doing more harm than good. For sure you are voiding the oil companies warranty on their product. Synthetics, front to rear will give you noticeable mileage improvement and cooler running engine. Less friction, plain and simple.

c'mon guys you can't tell me that teflon is not slicker than regular oil?!?!?

The OEM comment makes some sense...but if the motor didn't wear out, you wouldn't buy another car. I gotta believe that cost is more of a factor than performance. Think about the tires for example. The stocker you get from the factory are generally lame on most cars, unless it is a specific market and the cost is higher for the performance cars.

I am just now learning about synthetics, but I think the products like slick 50 and other ptfe additives have their benefits?! I am NOT going to comment on the real transparent trick and hoaxes though...we should all know better on the real obvious stuff.

just my 2c, curious to hear what you think.

slick 50 has actually been proven to do more harm then good.
THERE IS NO MIRICLE IN THAT BOTTLE! Just BS.

Cosmic if OEM motors wore out to quick, then the people who buy them are going to buy a different type of car next time. This is why OEM's have changed to synthetics and such, they've done alot of things to change the stuff that breaks easily on there cars.

teflon might be slick, but it's melting point is lower than the temps your oil sees-which means it just kind of floats around in the oil, until it finds it's way to the filter- which it clogs. DuPont reearched this, and does not recommend it for use in oil- and they are a greedy bunch, so you'd think it would be in their best interest to recommend that everyone use it in the crankcase of their car.

These guys are right on cosmic. Dont fall for the hype of those TV late night gimmicks. An additive is just that, an additive. It voids the warranty of the oil and for the money you spend on that additive, you could be installing synthetics through out your drive train.
Read up on the syn's or ask for info. in here from the many who already use it. Ive had Amsoil in my cars since 1975 and it works. Mobile 1 is another good syn. Dont go cheap with partial syn's, remember you are trying to protect a motor that will cost you over $2000 to rebuild if you hatch it. Insure it with the finest syn you can buy and forget the short cuts in a bottle. They only take the money from your shorts.
