OK, I'm going tomorrow for my final inspection of this car. I've already hade someone look at it with me and determined taht the 396 engine and rear is original to the car, the tranny has been replaced but is a th400.

What other things should I check just to make sure that it is real. Is there something with the fuel lines.

info: 69 rs/ss conv., 396/325, ps, pt, pb, ac,fiber,cc, am/fm, tilt...

Thanks, ya'll have been a great help.

Count the coils in the hood springs, should be 28, vs 26 for the standard hood.

Bring a magnet and check for rust repair in all the usual places especially the rockers.

If its a real RS it will have the extra washer pump on the wiper motor for the headlight washers if so equiped..

will also have the nozzels above the lights in the header panel area and of course the headlights doors and the back-up lights below the rear bumper. It should also have the rear tail panel painted black depending on the org color. If its not the orginal color see if you can see the black paint under the turnk seal on the panel

A 396/325HP car will have two fuel lines. One a 3/8" supply and a 5/16" return line. Since it a convertible it will not have the tail pipe adapter plate on the driver side frame rail. It should have a rear brake balancing valve on the drivers side frame rail.

Look for the A/C air dams outside the radiator core support. These are curved plates bolted to the front of the cocktail shakers. If they are missing you won't find replacements for them.

A big block with AC should also have a curved neck radiator... See if it also has it original radiator tag.

I thought I paid too much for my Z/28 also but 6 years later the car has more than doubled in value.... So much for depreciation.

I'm not sure what you are calling to much but, a rare car like that is and will always be very desirable. When you compare it to what you would spend on a new car that will look like everything thing eles on the street that will depretiate you may not feel so bad. And this summer when your cruising with the top down, you will feel like it was a real good deal. :cool

Just got it yesterday, drove it home (125 miles with the top down, yeha!) then my wife and I got in and drove another 100 miles, only used a little more than a half tank of gas. A little bit of tranny fluid overnight, but hey, its almost as old as I am, and I sometimes leak overnight http://www.camaros.net/forum/smile.gif

All I can say is thanks to all for your input.

I'm gonna have alot of questions in the near future, some good and some really dumb ones, please bear with me.

Pic's soon.

Scott, Congratulations on your new addition in the garage. You probably slept in it the first night because you didn't want to get out of it haha. When are you going to post some pictures? Did you ever get the pictures of my cars I sent you a few days ago in my message? Happy cruising, and I'll talk to you later. Donnie...

Hey, that's the car I have for my background on my computer! I must have gotten it from Ebay or one of the cars for sale ads! It has the same wrinkles in the top and D90 stripe shape! Sorry, Scott http://www.camaros.net/forum/frown.gif Here's the pic I have:
http://www.fototime.com/0D14298B0AA20C8/standard.jpg

I saved it because thats the color and stripe scheme my 327 car came with (and will again!)

Nice purchase Scott! You can't go wrong with a 69 Convert.

I think I inqured about that car right before I bought mine. I would have bought it if it had been a 4-speed. Have a lot of fun with it and make sure you keep the top down.
