I have a '67 Camaro 12 bolt with 3.08 non posi. It has a bracket for the traction bar and I am told this is a high horse 350, 396 or Z28 rear. First off, am I correct? Secondly, what is it worth?

12 bolts were used on all SS and Z/28, regardless of HP, and I think, high horse 327. Two things lower the value of yours. 3.08, and non-Posi. Condition is the overriding determiner of value. If it needs rebuilding, I'd guess $400.

I believe the 12 bolt could be had with a 327 like Unreal said... if it was an L30 motor backed by an M20 trans. Other than that it was an SS or Z28 as far as I know.

Someone that needs the specific date code will go $800+ for a non-posi 12 bolt and $1200+ for a posi out here in CA. It may go for less back east, as I would expect it to have surface rust and pitting all over it.

surprised with the gear, 3.08,and open,
prob was a later build date '67.
The 12 bolt was available in later build date cars as an option, with the 4 bbl 327
{275hp}
From what i read here on this forum, the
smarter way to go seems to be to use a early
'70's Nova {Apollo,Omega etc..} 8.5 10 bolt
so unless someone is going for "origanlity"
it may not be worth quite so much..

The date code is on the passenger side front of the axle tube.

Is it right over the spring pad? I see a number but it is going under the ubolt and is hidden. If this is the number, I'll remove the bolt and get a good look at it.
Thanks guys.

If shipping would not be ridiculous, I might be interested in it for a rebuild. I need another rear for my 69.

Multileaf perches correct?

If so let me know and I might be interested.

Last fall I paid $450 for one similar to yours, and needs a complete rebuild. Mine is also from a '67, with the traction bracket on the passenger side, but it has the 4-series posi carrier. I've been told it was a good deal. Hope this helps.
