Well decided to change the cap and coil today on my HEI... I noticed that the weights were covered with rust and they had some resistance sliding out....I cleaned it up pretty good...But noticed that the bushing on the weights were worn pretty good(Not much left) and the plastic pieces the weights slide on were also worn to nothing.....Here is my question what if any problem would this cause???..

I have to admit http://www.camaros.net/forum/smile.gif http://www.camaros.net/forum/smile.gif http://www.camaros.net/forum/smile.gif It could just be my imagination http://www.camaros.net/forum/frown.gif http://www.camaros.net/forum/frown.gif http://www.camaros.net/forum/frown.gif..But I am getting a better idle now since I cleaned everything up..Also does anyone make a rebuild kit for the HEI distributor...(Weights, bushing, springs, vacuum advance unit and the plastic buttons the weights ride on)..Anyone know anywhere I can buy a rebuild kit??

Thanks again

When the bushings wear out, the mechanical advance mechanism advances way too much. This can be dangerous, particularly for a high compression motor.
