Ok, I have a Olds 455, blew the head gaskets. I need Step By Step instructions on removing the distributor, the right way. Tell me how i can keep all the timing the same and stuff like that. Thanks alot for the help!

I would put the motor on TDC of #1 cylinder of the compression stroke. I would verify this also by making sure the timing marks on the balancer are close. I would make a scribe mark on the distributor housing and the intake manifold, right down at the bottom by the hold down clamp, so I know where the distributor was. I would then take off the distributor cap and mark with a felt tip pen, the position of the rotor (which direction its pointing). Take the hold down off and remove the distributor.
