I have seen on E-Bay listings for a power trunk latch for 69 Camaros. I don't believe these were available, or were they?

As far as I know they were not available.
I got mine from a Firebird. Works great.

Nothing like a 69 with traction issues.

Remote trunk latches used to be available aftermarket like from JC Whitney.

There was going to be an option at one time but it was canceled. They can come from other cars as the latches interchange. They sell for ridiculous prices with "Camaro" in the header. Why not?!?!

by using the power trunk release, does this eliminate the use of the trunk lock and key?

Mine came off of a 66 Grandprix.

It sure helped me one time. My keys were in my Girl Friends pocket book and we closed the lid. OOOPPPS. With a push of a button a major headace was avoided.

I paid 150.00 for mine. It was money well spent.

Your trunk key will work as normal with the power lock installed.

Because the power trunk release option was never offered on a 69 camaro, there is not a correct place to locate the power button. I found that the button fits perfectly in an existing hole in the top of the dash glove box. Power for the switch is nearby if you have the glove box light and the whole thing is out of sight. Worked perfectly for me.
