i have a rally sport, but the vin indicates it had a 6 cylinder. I know during production, plants would take parts from other plants if they ran short. I was wondering if rally sports came in 6 cylinders or if the plant was short of engines and placed an 8 in mine originally. Anyone have information on this?

Welcome to the site, as for the Rally Sport option, it could be had in a six cyl. car being it a coupe or convertible. For wider or faster response to your question I'll suggest to post it on Trim Tag, not much traffic here. Posting the questions in their corresponding forum will help others who come in search for answers. Good luck...

As Orench points out any first gen could get the RS (rallysport) option. It is a looks package (headlights, tail lights etc) not a performance option.
