I went to a local speed shop and they charged me $534 for the flowmaster American Thunder system they said it was $629 origanly. But in summit and stuff it was 321, but i know i would have to pay shipping from them, so did i get ripped off?

There is no shipping charge from Summit for that system, just a $6.95 "handling charge".

You didn't get ripped off. What you did is buy from a small local business who can't get volume pricing like Jegs or Summit. I just ordered a Centerforce flywheel, throwout bearing, clutch setup for $70 more than Jegs from my lonngtime local speed shop. In light of the advice and help I've received over the years, well worth the money. I do, however, discuss pricing first to see if we can arrive at an equitable arrangement.

Yes, I think you did get the shaft on that one. I realize that smaller business dont get the same low prices that Summit and Jegs do, but come on double???? heck they proably ordered if from summit and doubled the price and sold it to you. I have no problem paying a business there 25% mark up but 60% mark up is just robbery.

dont flip out, tell them you want your money back then buy from summit.
I dont like my local speed shop so i buy from places like flatlander, summit, jegs ect. Most of the time i find myself buying directly from the source, like Moser, or similar.

In the future, know what you can order the part for and see if you can negotiate. That way, you can get the best arrangement. In my case, the speed shop has been around for a very long time and is quite reputable. Others I, too, wouldn't give my business too.

The system should be around the 350.00 range.
200.00 more than the catalogue prices is a little steep, 50.00 to 75.00 should be more like it.

Why don't you show them that you are paying them 213.00 more than you need to and are trying to give them your business but that is so much money it is really bugging you. Maybe they will do something about it and all will be well. Or maybe they will say "Shove it" and you can say "Gimme me my money back". At least then you gave them a chance to earn your business. 200.00 is too much to ignore and explain that to them.
