I have an opportunity to buy a six cylinder Camaro in great condition. It is claimed to be somewhat rare. Here is the description.

It's a six cylinder, three speed on the column Sport Coupe. It's a
California car (Lakewood Ca. all it's life) which means no rust at all.
It's a pretty rare car as it's only one of 335 with RPO code A01 - Headrest
delete. This was a $16.00 credit. So out of 240,000 1969 Camaro's this is
one of only 335 like it. No telling how many of the 335 were six
cylinder/three speed column shifting cars. It has approx 86,000 original
miles. Has just had the head rebuilt, new alternator and battery, fresh
coolant flush and refill and oil change. It also has a new fuel pump. It's
also a smog equipped car with all the original pumps and equipment. It's
won trophies in 8 of 14 shows in the last two years. It's extremely clean.

Asking $9,000.00

Any help on what it's worth?...Really?

My first thought - Headrest 'DELETE' ?
I thought that headrests were an option (addition) in '67 and '68.
I may be misinformed about that but it wouldn't make it rare to be without headrests.
By the way, there is a '67 6 cyl car for sale in my town if you are looking for one.

I would simply value the car by what it is and not consider it any rarer than any other base 6 cylinder coupe. The headrest delete option does not add value to the car. This is how NADA values the car:

Total Low Retail: $3,676
Total Average Retail: $7,268
Total High Retail: $10,880

Well said Scott,

The rare in that car comes if it still has and keeps the I6. It won't be as desirable to the masses but I'll bet it's the only one at most shows you take it to.

I got to drive a '67 327 2-bbl 2-speed restored car this past weekend and have a new respect for the plane jane cars. It actually was a bit more nostalgic than driving my ragtop.

Steve if their price is firm it's your call but I'd suggest offering 8K or so just to see because most sellers will pad their asking price to insure they get what they really want.

Dennis is right. I can't remember the last time I saw a clean original I6 at a car show (I always think they are pretty cool when I see one though). I think that about 90% of them are now original Z/28's or COPO's without documentation. http://personal.clt.bellsouth.net/clt/m/g/mgervin/smilies/rotflmao.gif
