I have read a little about this. I would like to have AC in my car but do not want the origional due to weight and mainly due to the Room it takes up. I want a nice clean engine compartment but Ac takes up too much room. Will the vintage air take car of this for me? how much does it cost? and does anyone have any pictures of theres?

The Vintage Air unit will definitely clean up the engine compartment and does weigh less than an original system. Last time I checked the systems for a 1st gen amaro were around $1000 for the basic system.

it doesn`t have any prices on there... how bout there under dash heater? any experiences with that or prices?

I used the vintage air system and really got creative. All the hoses I routed on my 69 thru the transom side thru the old heater blower hole.

Here is a good picture of the hoses hanging out the blower motor hole thru the cover that came with the kit.

The final results were awesome and I get more people that walk past and try to figure out that I trapped all the hoses (including the heater hoses) between the inner and outer fenders, then bring them in under the battery to the appropriate termination. Here's a pic...but a little dark.

As you can see it really cleans up the compartment. Oh yeah....I flatten the firewall and covered the ugly hole I had!

WoW, HOTRODSRJ. I am very impressed with your clean engine compartment. It looks very very good! Im also impressed with your pulleys. They look damn good!

Personally I would keep the stock setup and change to the smaller Vintage Air type compressor. I have vintage air in my Nova and it is not exactly the greatest piece of equipment ever made.

Oger......what's wrong with the unit???...quality of the parts??, performance??
I've heard alot of talk about ppl using them, but never heard any bad comments about them....but then again, I've never heard anybody say how great they were either with the exception of cleaning up the engine compartment...

Yeah ...Oger...what's the deal. I have installed dozens of Vintage air systems and all have worked well. My 69 here will keep a 40ish air outlet temperature even in 90 degree heat and cools well.

I have them in trifives, streetrods, muscle cars, trucks...you name it. They all work well.

I am beginnng to like the smaller compressor but we have a pulleys kit for it too. The Concept One pulley kits (pictured above) with power steering and high po water pump is an 17% overdrive kit that increases cooling and alternator amps at low speeds, yet adds hp when compared to stock setups (pumps etal.

What's up with your VA unit that you don't like? Would like to hear.
