Hello everyone, newbie here. Just wanted to ask a question about where's the best place to buy replacement rear axles. The ones I have are 35 years old, but I don't wanna break the bank. I will not be racing this car. It will basically be a fun driver.

Somewhere locally?

I'm in Detroit.

Thanks
Tony R.

What is wrong with the ones that you have?
As long as they are not pitted badly, are not bent, and do not show abnormal sigs of wear on the end that rides against the differential cross-shaft-why replace them?

You don't mention what type of rear-end that you have. Are you looking for new axles, or just to replace a damaged or defective axle that you have? I have a set of used 12 bolt axles on E-Bay right now, and also a set of 10 bolt axles. If you are going new-go Moser.
Here is their web-site: http://www.moserengineering.com/

Sorry, it is a 1968 positration 10 bolt(8.2).

They don't look terribly bad to me but then again I'm not an expert. They do appear to have some pitting on them. And the car only had about 75000 miles on it. I know this because it has been in our family since the day it rolled off the assembly line.

Thanks
Tony

I would get these: http://www.footeaxle.com/Pages/production.html
Your worries will be over.
They are not that expensive compared to other aftermarket axles, and are sold by most gear vendors. Look in the rear of any HotRod magazine for a vendor like Randy's Ring and Pinion, ETC.

I am using the axles david posted the link to in my 8.2'' posi rear. They looked to be of excellent quality.

I've had good luck with c-clip axles from Dutchman Motorsports.

As I recall, they were $160 a pair.
