I recently found and purchased a set of vintage Texas plates for the '69. I have stripped them and now painted them white (background color) and am wondering what is the best way to paint the raised letters and have it come out looking professional. Surely one of you smart people has done this before and has an easy solution..

My second question is this, I got a digital camera for Christmas and would like to know who you ladies and gents think is best for hosting pictures on the web. I would like to be able to eventually post links to pictures.

Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas-and plan on having a safe New Years celebration!

Hey, check this out. A few years back I wanted to restore my California 'Black and Yellow' plates and this guy I know whom was one of the creators of the Petersen Museum told me about this guy who restore's plates for a living.

I also purchased my 67 without a front plate (only having one in California is a guaranted ticket) and not only did he do an excellent resto taking out dents and all, (I mean the plate was delivered in orginal brown wax paper and all of the reg stickers were taken off one-by-one and placed on a strip of wax paper, thats all his father does) but this guy made me a second replica plate!

The resto was like $20.00 and the second plate was also $20.00.

You should see my plates....First quality!!!!

You've got mail!

I always powder coat my base coat for the plate then use Testor's Model paint to match the colors of the lettering/numbers. Use a small and medium flat brush, tape all the straight edges with masking tape and put your best steady hand forward for the curves and crannies that were not taped.

Works for me....excellent results.
