On a 69, what is the correct gloss for the cowl air cleaner? MacNeish's book says 60% gloss, another source says gloss, and I just got an original open element (supposedly from a 68) that appeared to be full gloss (or maybe 90%)

I know all the repops are 60%, but I would like to get confirmation beyond that.
Thanks,

I know my 69 non-cowl air cleaner is closer to 90% and I think a lot of the repos are too flat. Just my opinion though

probably whatever color all the other air cleaners that came off that air cleaner assembly line that day were painted. that would probably be the same as every single snorkel air cleaner- whether for a 6 cylinder or a 427 with a Holley carb- as well as cowl induction air cleaners. i bet it also depended on what just happened to be in the paint guns that particular day.
i know i aint really helping much, but i know how factories work. they use whatever is there.

Hello UNREAL, The aircleaner on My 43,000 mile original Z/28 with factory cowl setup is what appears to be gloss black. It has never been painted. Hope this helps.
