I'm going to pull of my Hooker Super Comps and go with a set of ceramic coated headers what size should I run on my primarys and who makes the best fitting? My Camaro is a 69 convertable running a 350 auto that is running Edelbroc RPM heads Comp Cams 280XE, 10.5 to 1 pistons and a 700R4 or 200R4 havnt decided with a 3.73 rear. The car is going to be a tourer so I want to go with something thats not to low. So who makes the best coated header and what size?

I was thumbing through the lates JEGS and noticed Hedman makes a set of coated headers in a 14 gauge, most others are 16 gauge. Priced nice at $269 a set.

Anyone have opinons on the Hedman headers?

I always heard that Hedman were not that well made. thats why I bought Super Comps from Hooker but their ceramic lined ones are WAY spendy.

Dynomax coated headers are a great bang for the buck.

I just put a set of headers in my 68 Camaro Convertible. Specs: 1 5/8 in. primary tubes, 3 in. collectors, ceramic coated, Super Competition headers. The part number is HOK-2130-1, check them out on Summit Racing. I put a 350 create engine in my car, @ 330 horse power and left the old hooker headers in. The old headers were not designed for that kind of power, I think the old engine was @ 175 horse power. Anyway, the end result was excessive heat in the engine compartment and the powder coat pealed off. The new ceramic coated headers were expensive but well worth it. Whatever brand of headers you buy, make sure you match them to the type of engine you are running.

I should clairify what Ive heard on Hedman is that they dont fit around the steering box very well and sometimes need a performance dent or two. I love my Hookers but their so damn expensive for ceramic coated.

hey i would buy the headers you want then send them out to be coated inside and out, they only come with outside done from hooker, not sure on jet-hot, but it is worth it to be done inside and out as they will last alot longer
i like hookers also as they fit around steering box when you have proper motor mounts for engine i have a 68 bb that hooker 2" primarys fit without rubbing steering box

if there isn't anything wrong with your current headers, why not have them coated? if they aren't beat up or rusted thru, Jet-Hot could coat them inside and out for less than a set of new coated headers, and you already know how well they fit.
