I want to test fire my engine before I connect my newly installed header collectors to my exhaust. Will this cause any problems (aside from the loud noise) or damage the car in any way?

The unrestricted exhaust might make it run a little lean. As long as you're not doing a 20 minute break-in run at 1800-2000 you should be alright. I did that once. The neighbors didn't care for it.
