on a 69 camaro SS does anyone have a clue on the edelbrock manifold
#2161 which is supposed to be standard deck height, with a holley 750 DP. will this fit under a stock SS hood? i know the SS has sort of a mini cowl. the setup just looks to tall even with just a 3" air cleaner. graemlins/waving.gif

I'm interested in this as well, if someone could post the maximum height off of the cleaner to the lip of the fender (where hood attatches) for the ss hood and BB. I guess you could use a ball of play doh and 2 sheets of wax paper and measure the compressed goo...
Thanks

Yes, it does clear.
Just did a 69 RS/SS 396, same manifold, same carb, with a 14X3 drop-base K&N air cleaner.
It has 1/4" hood clearance at the closest point.
I wanted to use a 1/2" phenolic spacer but could not.
(This car uses original motor mounts BTW.)

Could you measure from the top of the air cleaner to the fender / hood lip???
It would be greatly appreciated

go to this edelbrock site and they show you how to check the clearance from hood to air cleaner.
click on intake manifolds and then click on general info on install

I still need a measurement of someones hood clearance with a big block and an ss hood, I know how to measure this, but don't have an ss hood to measure and i'm using a weird intake...
Thanks

The SS Hood has a slight raised area in the center externally but the interior structure is the same as a standard flat hood. There is no raised center area on the underneath.

i have a 69 396 ss with a performer 2 intake. with a 3" element it hits the hood insulation and is very tight. no insulation would give more room, or if you want to spend some bucks get one of these air cleaners.
