I installed a set of Dynomax full length headers on my 69.
My car has the Hotchkis 2" drop suspension and the headers are 3" off the ground. This is not going to work.

Any shorty header suggestions?

Guess my brand new Dynomax headers are going to hit ebay.

I am in the same predicament except my headers are old and already scraped quite a bit on road obstacles. I found that Hedman makes a nice set of 3/4 length headers that tuck up by the firewall. I don't think they will work on manual trans cars though. I'm leaning toward the more expensive Thorley tri-y shorties (again 3/4 length) as they seem to be a better design (less power loss) and are made of much thicker gauge metal than standard Hedmans (Hedman also makes a premium 3/4 length header with similar specs).

I've heard both sets of headers fit without issue around the ps box. I have personally seen a set of Hedmans that had to be dimpled on a SBC install with an Iroc ps box conversion. I don't know if the Iroc box dimensions are much larger than original casting ps box or not.

I am fine with 1 5/8"s shorty headers but don't want to spend allot of money.

I don't believe Dynomax sells shorty header and the Headman headers are $400 coated. Too much for my blood.

Maybe it would be cheaper to buy the Headman shorties and have them coated.

Anyone know of a shorty coated header that is under $300?

If I pick up the headman shorty headers uncoated can I run them for a couple months then have them coated when I get more money?

I have also read that I will have to dimple them and figure it would be better to to it uncoated then have them done.

I just checked my Jegs catalog and they have the Dynomax block hugger/shorty ceramic coated headers for $225. The part # is 289-86900. Hope this helps.

One of the members here (Noel67) has the shorty Hedmans that were dimpled. He was able to dimple the header without totally destroying the ceramic coating. I think there might be problems coating the headers inside after they have been run for a while.

My vote is for the Thorley Tri-Y's. They tuck up nicely against the floorboards, and are the quality is excellent. Pretty pricey though.
