How do you remove the needles from the speedo and fuel gauges in a 68 Camaro? They seem like they would easily get ruined if you don't know how to get the off (and back on)

Thanks

Wasn't sure the proper forum...

Okay now this is going to sound real weird - but I found a little gear puller in a Hobby Shop that worked great.

Here's their web link www.nwsl.com (http://www.nwsl.com)

Maybe you're local Hobby Shop would have them.

The shafts are a smooth taper, no threads. I just hold the shaft with a pair of needle nose pliers and gently twist and pull the needles off. When reassembling, I put the needles back on slightly to make sure they are where I want them before I press them down firmly. I use an expensive DC variable power supply to test gauges but you can hook up a flashlight or 9 volt battery to the fuel gauge to make sure it’s at “E” before installing the needle. The fuel gauge will move when less than 1 volt is applied so you can even use an AA battery to test it. If you want the needle move the opposite way, just reverse the leads.
