Can any one tell me if they know of any one or any way to get the correct finish on the convertible header trim pieces. In 67 and early 68 they were bright chrome but later they were a satin finish. I am looking to refinish mine but I would like to get the correct satin finish on them. Any ideas?

On my '69 I sprayed it with Krylon Dull Aluminum, let it dry thoroughly, then rubbed it with 0000 steel wool. 14 years later it still looks perfect. Don't know if it's absolutely correct - probably not - but it's dang close.

You could bead blast it to a satin finish.

That is essentially what the factory did. When those moldings were still available from The General (showing my age...) they usually still had the masking tape on them.

So by rechroming the header and then bead blasting it will give the correct satin finish?
Were was the location of the masking tape, or was the whole header satin finish

The front half was mask off and the back was the satin finish.

Does any one have a picture that shows the correct finish and mask off area?

They were not bead blasted - they painted over the chrome.

It is a silver color with a strip of chrome for the side moldings to attach.
