Was just doing some browsing on Ebay and saw this ad:

Numbers matching car...but when you look at the engine, the area where the serial is looks to be ground off (no paint and very flat) and has pristine numbers stamped into the metal.

Anyone else suspicious of this, or am I just smoking crack?

The surface behind the stamped numbers looks good to me. However, I know factory broach marks can be reproduced. If Jerry McNeish says its real, that's acceptable to me. He knows how to detect fake stampings.

I would think the guy just scrapped the paint off the pad so you could clearly see the serial numbers stamped into the pad. They are much lighter than the Assembly numbers and wer probably hard to see.

It is what it is claimed to be, and that price is just about what a 67 Z28 should be selling for. We'll have to see if it moves. The twin Z's with the body numbers one digit apart that were on last week didn't sell at 122,000, although they probably should have for that much money.

Cool, I just thought it looked kinda funny. It is a beautiful example (much nicer than mine will ever be LOL).
